Camtasia for Mac Out August 25!
August 7, 2009

This per TechSmith’s blog, The Visual Lounge. And looking mighty nice from the screenshot, might I add. Very much like ScreenFlow. And thankfully very much unlike Camtasia for Windows (sorry TechSmith, but the UI for the Windows app just stinks – there, I said it).
Interestingly, Camtasia for Mac (Mactasia?) will be priced the same as ScreenFlow ($99) through the end of the year. I smell a fight brewing…
I can’t wait to check this app out. And I’ll keep my fingers crossed for SnagIt for Mac. Without, you know, that horrible interface from the Windows version (yeah, I said it again).
Now, if Adobe would just hurry up with Captivate for Mac (Mactivate?).
Seems we Mac-using eLearning developers are coming out of the wilderness at last. Or not quite.

Hi Chris – glad you like the screenshot! We built Camtasia for Mac from the ground up and based on years of Mac focus group, customer visits, beta group feedback, surveys, multiple rounds of user testing, etc.
And, I’ll pass on the feedback about the Windows UI for Snagit and Camtasia Studio. Ever interested in being in a focus group or beta? Let me know. We’re always looking for feedback.

Wow, excellent. I am looking at trying to move over to a Mac at home (and not just for a laptop) and piggyback windows with Bootcamp or VMWare Fusion. Right now all my elearning apps are PC-based, but the more elearning apps switch over to Mac, the easier it is to justify getting one.
Thanks Mark for the link to Adobe’s “Mactivate” progress.
