Realmac LittleSnapper: Screenshooting for Mac

LittleSnapper - Screen and Web Snapping for Mac OS X Leopard.png

After years of screenshot app neglect, the Mac platform is finally starting to get some much-needed love. I lamented over one of the few Windows apps I use that has no true Mac equivalent, SnagIt from TechSmith. And while ScreenFlow brilliantly fills the gap for motion screen captures (and TechSmith readies Camtasia for Mac), we’ve been left to rely on the eternally-beta Skitch, and TechSmith’s Jing “project” (rarely an optimistic designation) for static screen captures. Both of which fall far short of SnagIt (no beauty to be sure, but packed with features).

I still harbor hope that TechSmith will see the light and develop SnagIt for Mac (and suspect they are secretly busy doing just that).

In the meantime, another fighter prepares to enter the fray: LittleSnapper from Realmac Software. With the beautiful (both visually and functionally) website development app RapidWeaver in their portfolio, I have high hopes for LittleSnapper.

We’ll see how things shake out, “sometime in late 2008.”

Hey, they’re poets and don’t know, um…its.
