Camtasia for Mac On the Way – Help Them Beta Test

Last month in my post TechSmith and Mac: When Will These Two Kids Finally Hook Up?, I talked about TechSmith’s intention to bring Camtasia to the Mac. And hopefully, someday, SnagIt too. There is an inexcusable gaping hole on the Mac platform for applications like these, and I’m thrilled that TechSmith is finally stepping up to the plate to fill the void.

Troy Stein, the Camtasia Studio Product Manager for TechSmith, commented directly on that post and confirmed that yes, Mac Camtasia is on the way and they hope to have it out by the end of the year. And they are looking for beta testers to help them test out the app this summer.

Yes!!!

And the best news of all: it won’t be a dodgy Windows port, but a full-blown Mac app built from the ground up. Sweet heaven smiles on us today! Hopefully TechSmith will include all the Mac-tastic cinematic sweetness that makes Keynote look so much better than (ugh) PowerPoint.

So you Mac-using eLearning developers out there, get on board! Troy included instructions on signing up for the beta test in his comment, so check the original post. Tell ‘em Chris at eQuixotic sent you.

Now Troy, how ’bout Mac SnagIt? Time to buddy up to the SnagIt Product Manager.
